WATCH HOW YOU TALK

Our continued positive thoughts about people, places and things pave the way for us to be optimistic, adventurous and risk takers. We need to be mindful of how we are thinking! It is important to nourish or renourish our thought patterns and place power on our thoughts!
It Only Gets Worse With Age!
I have an older friend in her 80s. Recently, she has started to state, “It only gets worse with age!” I have tried to program my thinking to really stop and evaluate what I perceive as negative statements. Yes, aging does present challenges if your health breaks down, but studies have shown that many problems often stem from ‘negative thinking.’ Don’t start saying, “I’m getting older!”
Yes, we all are – but don’t set your cells up to listen. Instead say, “I’m getting older but I’ll face each challenge as it comes.” There was a study where seniors were matched for disabilities and placed into groups A and B. Neither group was allowed to share with the other group.
Group A: They were introduced to dancing and dressing up for fun events such as talent nights.
There were dances of the 1940s, 1950, 1960s etc.
They were brought out on trips. They were told that they were “young at heart” and to “live now!”
Group B: Were convinced that their disabilities (which matched Group A) were such that calm exercises were best for them. “Look at your age, why stress the body and mind!”
They engaged in puzzles, art work and watching movies.
Results: Group A had great results over Group B.
Their physical motions increased, they had lower blood pressure levels and they started to investigate new activities.
Some Things to Think About
If you accept the expectations of others, especially negative ones, then you never will change the outcome.
Dwelling on the negative simply contributes to its power.
Negative people need drama like oxygen. Stay positve, it will take their breath away.
Expect while reaching for the stars, people to whirl by with their dark clouds and storm upon you.
