The largest of ‘deliverance’ African Christian churches has branches throughout Great Britain. It started in Nigeria.

One of the methods of ‘deliverance’ for gays is a ‘starvation course.’  Other deliverances occur as happenings before a person is born:

if you were conceived in adultery or fornication

▪if your parents contemplated aborting you

▪if your mother had a difficult pregnancy

Some deliverances are clearly a matter for professional medical specialists:

▪if you were abused as a child

▪if you have been raped or molested

▪if you have unnatural movements in parts of your body

▪if you have inexplicable loss of memory

▪if you are afraid of being alone

▪if you have been chronically ill all your life

▪if you are extremely uncomfortable around people

▪if you have chronic headaches or mental confusion

▪if you have emotional disturbances

▪if you hear strange voices

▪if you are constantly duped

The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry, with a branch in Anfield, is putting LGBTI people through a three-day starvation, forcing them to be without food or water.

An undercover journalist posed as a member of the public questioning their sexuality.

The church’s assistant pastor told the Liverpool Echo reporter being gay is ‘biologically wrong’ and by going through the therapy would ‘allow him to marry and have children’.

‘Brother Michael’ said in order for him to be ‘cured’, he had to ‘humble his soul’ by starving himself and not drinking water for 24 hours before taking part in a weekly prayer session.

A full three-day course is also offered with no warning or call for a physical or medical examination.

The three-day course involves staying at the church, praying for up to three hours at a time without eating or drinking until the third day – when they would be given ‘fruits from the church’.

How much is the course?    The amount is NOT stated.

The Pastor is a Medical Trainee Surgeon.

Dr Desmond Sanusi, the church’s pastor, has claimed Brother Michael is not acting under his guidance.

He has also said in 20 years of offering this therapy, ‘nobody has dropped dead’.  (But what serious psychological problems have occurred and if the deliverance didn’t work – is there guilt and  shame and self-worthlessness?)

African Practises – ?

During the one-one session, Brother Michael referred to being gay as a ‘deceit of Satan’ and claimed people only identify as gay to get ‘celebrity’ status.

‘I thank God that you have come to where you think you will get help and I know you are going to get the help,’ he said.

‘With the help of God, with prayer, with praying, with the help of God you will have children. You will marry and have your children.’

Note these ‘deliverances’ are ‘mumbo jumbo’ African rites – some are such that a person has no control over (the first two).   Some problems need medical help and psychiatric counselling and I’ve outlined these in red.

Other Practises Need Medical Counselling and Therapy/Drugs

▪if you grew up in a war zone

▪if you have been ridiculed all your life

Some Deliverances are Just Strange or Could be a Money Making Scam:

▪if you have a history of sexual perversion in your bloodline (adultery, rape, incest, etc)

▪if you have been accident-prone all your life

▪if you have a history of poverty in your life and/or in your family

▪if you are intensely jealous of others

▪if you were involved with the occult

▪if you are attracted to, or have consulted palm readers, satanic advisors and psychics

▪if you should be a winner but you are failing/▪if your trials have refused to come to an end

▪if your inputs and efforts fail to get success

▪if you were formerly rich but suddenly turned poor

 Satanic Deliverances

▪if you are being governed by a power contrary to your will

▪if you observed that you are bound by sin or Satan

▪if you are operating under evil covenants and curses

▪if you are constantly harassed by evil spirits

▪if you have an evil trend of problems in your family

Paula’s comments:   These churches frighten me because they should be turning people that obviously have mental/emotional and physical problems over to the medical profession.  The “Satanic’ deliverances also connect to the need for professional help.  Again, people who look back to Mountain Sinai – perhaps, 3-4,000 years ago and practise ‘deliverances’ from that era should be stopped.  Back then, there was NO cures for mental or physical illnesses.   Is this a big money grabber at the expense of people who need professional help?

In March 2016, the World Psychiatric Association wrote a declaration to the United Nations and world leaders.  This scientific body of over 250,000 psychiatrists in 181 countries stated that homosexuality CANNOT be reversed.  It is a normal expression of sexuality.  And since it cannot be changed, it is NOT a choice.
