Thoughts Need to be Controlled
at times!

TELL YOUR MIND TO ‘SHUT UP.’ (That’s rude..LOL)

Our mind is a wonderful and complicated organ.  We think and reason and plan.   Then, there are our thoughts and these present each of us with challenges.  Our thoughts are like children and often need to be controlled.  The ego, that little child within our thoughts can cause us problems if it is being negative, frightened, selfish and just plain whiney.

When we are ‘out of control’ we are not thinking and reasoning.  We have shut off that part of our brain and the little child ego has taken over.  Why are we out of control?  There can be lots of reasons:  our ego has been insulted by words or actions of another person, we recall our past hurts and hate and blame those in our past, we are in the middle of a heated argument and we feel that we are being attacked unjustly. When out of control, we are not at peace and it is often in those moments that we say and do things that we regret.

Eckhart Tolle has many books where he addresses this situation (far better than me) He has thought me to be ‘separate’ from my thoughts, watching them as if I was watching a child.  I can, when I am separate from my thoughts, evaluate them.

I have a thought and I can say, “Ah, that’s a hurt of the past, do I need to dwell on it?

What good will it bring me?  How do I feel when I have this thought.  I feel hurt and hate – that’s not good.

Controlling or changing your thoughts is very empowering.  We have all been hurt in the past, but we can ‘shut that door’ or keep it open and feel negative thoughts.

Live in the moment – the past can only overpower you if you give it power.

Try and squash and change negative thoughts….you have a right to be happy

The ego is a child, train your own child, and, at times,  tell it to be “quiet” or if it’s really bad, tell it to SHUT UP!  LOL paulaimages-33

  1. First of all I want to say fantastic blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind.
I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your
head before writing. I have had trouble clearing my mind in getting my thoughts
out there. I truly do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15
minutes are usually lost simply just trying to figure out how
to begin. Any recommendations or hints? Many thanks!

    • Hello Laser: Write from your heart and focus on things that interest you. Keeping a daily diary can be an exercise in writing. I have to admit that I don’t centre myself in terms of blogging – I write from a passion to make a difference in this world. I write to support the ‘underdog’ and I write when I find interesting articles for facts to share. My ebooks on Amazon.com are stories that arose in my mind. I research facts to go with the stories. For example, “Lt. Dee: Army Nurse Vietnam” came from viewing the Vietnam Memorial and seeing the female name of nurse Sharon Lane who lost her life. I researched about nurses during the Vietnam War and the war itself. Then, I wrote a love story of two lesbian nurses falling in love during the hatred of war. My ebooks were never easy – written and rewritten until I was satisfied. I am not sure what kind of writing you are involved in and there are many genres. I found that the more I write, the better I get. Reading books allows you to study the craft of the great writers. I hope this helps. paula. Good luck!
