Over one thousand Taiwanese people celebrated a mock wedding banquet to promote and encourage their fellow citizens to support same-sex marriage.

The wedding banquet, featuring traditional red wedding tablecloths and decorations, was organized by the Taiwan Alliance to Promote Civil Partnership Rights.

Support for gay marriage is gaining momentum.  A poll conducted in August, 2013, revealed that more than half of Taiwanese people now back gay marriage, a doubling of support since 2001.

There are hard-liners and even dangerous people opposed to the idea.  A lawsuit by a gay couple was dropped in January after the appellants received death threats.

Gay and lesbian groups in Taiwan, one of Asia’s more liberal societies, have been urging the government for years to make same-sex unions legal.

Last year, more than 50,000 gays and lesbians and their supporters marched in Taiwan to push for legalizing same-sex marriage as the island marked its 10th annual Gay Pride event.

We wish our rainbow sisters and brothers all our support on this website stories4hotbloodedlesbians.com     paula.
