Save Sarah on Gofundme

To Sarah’s Parents:

Why can you not love her unconditionally?   Sending Sarah to a “Christian” boarding school will NOT “Pray the Gay Away.”   Please refer to Exodus foundation now defunct!   You cannot LOVE your daughter and HATE the sin (of homosexuality).  At the end of her years at this boarding school, she will still be gay – and she will have formed a very different relationship from the one you all had prior to this bad move.  It is a bad move on many levels: spirituality (Jesus loves unconditionally) -emotionally (your daughter is a teen where self-esteem is a fragile commodity).   Yes, she will have scriptural verses thrown at her, but this will cause her to look at the life and words of Jesus.  Hopefully, like me, she will still be a Christian who does not see Jesus like you do.

Exodus:

This was a Christian organization that attempted to change sexual orientation. it closed its doors after 20 years with not ONE cured person. This is NOT a phase that your daughter, Sarah, is going through. I knew I was “different” at the age of eleven. I didn’t have a name for it.   I didn’t even know the word “lesbian’ back then.

Please Don’t Ignorie Science

In March 2016, the World Psychiatric Association, (with members from nearly 200 countries), wrote a declaration on homosexuality.   It was addressed to the United Nations and World Leaders. It is so sad that certain right-wing Christians would choose to ignore this scientific body of academics and replace it with Leviticus, written 3,500 years ago (a man shall not lie with a man). Wouild these same Christians go to a doctor who practised medicine from 3,500 years ago? In this doctor’s office would be no computer, a slab of wood supported by a rock for a desk, and parchment written medical evidence that would not include chemotherapy, triple by-pass surgery, or treatment for premature babies.

Yet, right-wing Evangelicals like you both, are sending their homosexual children to boarding schools were daily they are blasted with selected scriptures where they are told they are “sinful” and “unnatural.” For teens, self-esteem is a fragile commodity.  The first hopeful step is that your daughter has good self-esteem, she knew she was a lesbian and this will not change.  She challenged society (and no doubt embarrassed you both – Pride being Lucifer’s downfall), yet she took her girlfriend to prom.

Teens need to be accepted unconditonally for her sexuality.   The horrors of using scripture negatively is certainly against the words and actions of Jesus. One great example is seen in the Story of the Good Samaritan. The most “unclean” of society in the time of Jesus was that of the Samaritan. jesus places the most “sinful” and most “unclean” Samaritan as the hero of the story. Jesus places the Samaritan over the Jewish priest and Levite – they knew the scritptures but had no love.   What a good story for these parents – who cannot accept that people are born gay.

Here are the words from the March 2016 declaration of the World Psychiatric Association: Here is the link

  1. The World Psychiatric Association (WPA) holds the view that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals are and should be regarded as valued members of society, who have exactly the same rights and responsibilities as all other citizens. This includes equal access to healthcare and the rights and responsibilities that go along with living in a civilised society.
  2. WPA recognises the universality of same-sex expression, across cultures. It holds the position that a same-sex sexual orientation per se does not imply objective psychological dysfunction or impairment in judgement, stability, or vocational capabilities.
  3. WPA considers same-sex attraction, orientation, and behaviour as normal variants of human sexuality. It recognises the multi-factorial causation of human sexuality, orientation, behaviour, and lifestyle. It acknowledges the lack of scientific efficacy of treatments that attempt to change sexual orientation and highlights the harm and adverse effects of such “therapies”.
  4. WPA acknowledges the social

For Sarah’s parents:

Jesus never mentions homosexuality, but asks us to be honorable and trustworthy in relationships.

Paul when he writes to the Corinthians is asking straight women who ‘go against their true nature” to refrain from pagan temple orgies, where men and women had sex with the opposite sex and with the same sex.

If you keep the abomination in Leviticus then you must keep all the abominations.   See this letter to Dr. Laura who was a known racist and homophobe:

Dear Dr. Laura:

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When people try to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to follow them:

  1. a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev.1:9).The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
  2. b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7.In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
  3. c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanness (Lev.15:19-24).The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
  4. d) Lev.25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?
  5. e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
  6. f) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev.11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this?
  7. g) Lev.21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
  8. h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
  9. i) I know from Lev.11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
  10. j) My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread cotton/polyester blend. He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them (Lev.24:10-16)? Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev.20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.
