Paula here. As a Canadian, I am just an observer of American politics. However, as a lesbian, I mourn the deaths of 49 of muy brothers and sisters in Orlando. This is where there is NO Canadian/USA border. We are all united on the earth walk. Just look at our flag and what each color represents:
In Canada, we don’t have a Second Amendment with the rights to bear arms openly. As an observer, I can see it makes absolute sense to compromise on the Second Amendment. Why does any person need an army assault rifle? This gun was designed for combat killing. I feel it has no right to be in the hands of ANY human regardless of the country where they reside. Hillary Clinton is not banning the Second Amendment, she just wants checks on who can purchase an Army Assault Rifel.
MY LGBTI Family is World-Wide
It is possible to say that my brothers/sisters in the LGBTI were born under two flags – their national country’s flag and the rainbow flag.
Christine Leinonen went on state at the Democratic National Convention on Wed. July 27, 2016. Her story was met with chants of “love triumphs over hate.”
Christine Leinonen, was joined onstage by Pulse survivor Brandon Wolf and Drew Leinonen’s ex-boyfriend Jose Arriagada, when she delivered a moving speech that had many in the room in tears.
“It was in his DNA that love always trumps hate,” she said while in tears, spurring the crowd to erupt in a chant echoing her words.
Speaking of the weapon that killed her only son, a gun that fired 30 rounds in one minute, she said, “it takes about five minutes for a church bell to ring 49 times.”
Common Sense Gun Policies
“Common sense gun policies save lives,” she continued. “One minute for a gun to fire so many shots, five minutes for a bell to honor so many lives. I’m glad common sense gun policy was in place the day Christopher was born, but where was that common sense the day he died?
“I never want you to ask that question about your child. That’s why I support Hillary Clinton.”
Christine Leinonen was one of the first on the scene the morning of the shootings. Her son Drew, 32, a gay rights activist and Clinton supporter, was one of the last victims to be identified. His boyfriend, Juan Guerrero, 22, was also killed. Christine said that her son and his boyfriend planned to get married.
THIS POLITICAL CAMPAIGN
We watch and we learn. By watching we know who we are inside.
Such knowlege, I promise, should lead to change and action. We need to show our love and compassion to all.
