In July 2011, a Norweigan right-wing racist bigot decided to massacre young people at a camp. They had come together from all nationalities to work for peace and harmony.
The married lesbian couple Hege Dalen and her wife Toril Hanse were camping when they heard the shooting and decided to save lives. They made four trips back and forth in their small boat, picking up injured, blooded and scared young people.
Hege Dalen and her partner Toril Hanse made four trips back and forth in their small boat, picking up injured, bloodied and scared young people. It is estimated that they saved at least forty people from the hateful killer.
The Grief: As an estimated 100,000 people gathered the next day in Norway’s capital Oslo to remember those slain, local police now say 76 people are confirmed dead from the attacks, revised from an earlier estimate of 93.
My thoughts: Does this not show that Hege and Toril acted NOT as lesbians, but as kind and brave women (who happen to be lesbian). We are humans first – and then, if you want to, you can add the labels.
