It was a wonderful endorsement for LGBT persons when Lady Gaga, born Stefani Germanotta, launched her album,  “Born This Way.” She strives so hard to stop bullying in schools and her pronouncement that homosexuals or transgendered persons are born this way is so influential in what is often a homophobic society.

Early Life

Lady Gaga or Stefani Germanotta, was born in New York City on March 28, 1986.  Her talents are many: singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, activist, businesswoman, fashion designer, actress, philanthropist and humanitarian.  She attended a convent school and briefly studied at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.  But, it was her musical career that got her full attention.

Records and Touring

Success was almost immediate with her debut album, “The Fame” and the number one singles – “Just Dance” and “Poker Face.”   Another album, “The Fame Monster” and a combined 18 month tour ranked as the highest-grossing tours of all time.  Lady Gaga admits that she was influenced by the greats: David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Queen.   Her attire is flamboyant, diverse and unique.  Her enormous talents have earned herfive Grammy Awards and 13 MTV Video Music Awards.  In 2011, it was revealed that Gaga has sold an estimated 23 million albums and 64 million singles world-wide.

 Humaritarian Causes:

Gaga and Cyndi Lauper joined forces with MAC Cosmetics to launch a line of lipstick with all net proceeds going to prevent HIV and AIDS worldwide.  At least $202 million has been raised for this cause.  Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation has teamed up with other partners to offer youth empowerment and anti-bullying in schools.

 Private Life:

Gaga guards her private life and I applaud her for it.  There has been a boyfriend in the news and I wish her every happiness with whom ever she chooses to love.

She is a gift to this world.
