– This cover of Vanity Fair -featuring Cindy Crawford- was quite controversial!
So proud of fellow Canadian, Kathyn Dawn Lang, born in Alberta on November 2, 1961. This talented lesbian with a sensual voice has wowed the public with her songs and collaborated with such artists as Roy Orbison, Tony Bennett, Elton John and Jane Siberry. I deliberately left out Anne Murray because if you saw the video where they sang Ann’s song, “I Want to Get to Know You,” there would be little doubt that Anne Murray was also a member of ‘the family.’ (She has denied this often).
Her vocal range (mezzo-soprano) and twice she has performed at the Canadian Olympics (1988) and 2010. She closed the 2010 ceremonies with Canadian singer/songwriters song, Hallelujah).
kd started her career with country music and in 1985 received a Juno for the most promising female vocalist. On 1985 she released her album, Angel with a Lariat” which received wide acclaim. Roy Orbison chose her to record “Crying” and they both received a Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals in 1989.
Very daring and delicious!
Here are the wonderful albums that kd has released
1984– A Truly Western Experience 1987-– Angel with a Lariat –– 1988 Shadowland —1989 Absolute Torch and Twang
1992 Ingenue 1995 All You Can Eat —1997 Drag—2000 Invinsible Summer—–2001 Live by Request—2002 A Wonderful World—2006 Reintarnation—2011 Sing it Loud
Personal Life: kd has admitted in several interviews that she was a bit of a lesbian womanizer. In 2012 she dissolved her domestic relationship with Jamie Price, her partner of nine years. Living in California did not enable the two women to get legally married but California did give them marriage-like rights, including community property and hospital visitation should either become ill.
Both women are dedicated Buddhists and their separation was amicably.
We wish both of them every happiness.
