Blessed are the hearts that can bend; they shall never be broken. Albert Camus
Paula here. On the earth walk we are called to learn – sometimes we are dragged kicking and screaming, but this is our destiny. We are here to learn – we learn about and by ourselves and we learn from others.
Sometimes, others hurt us, but as Oprah has stated, “Let our wounds be our wisdom.”
All of us have met people who carry “baggage,” and we often carry it ourselves.
Some of us have opportunities to lighten the baggage or put it down completely. When we refuse to do this – we are hurting ourselves. Is this refusal to let go done out of guilt? We need to stop punishing ourselves. If you want to make amends – go out and love others and yourself. This is the best way to pay off a debt. Look at this sentence – “I am going to be unhappy, just to show you how much you hurt me!”
That’s insane. Why punish yourself? Love is like the number 29 bus, there will always be others coming your way. You can only drive out darkness with LIGHT!
Put the baggage down – you deserve a full and happy life!
The rest of these quotes are about self-worth and self-esteem. You can walk through life with a broken foot or get the foot healed and dance through life! Our decisions determine much of our lives!
“As long as you look for someone else to validate who you are by seeking their approval, you are setting yourself up for disaster. You have to be whole and complete in yourself. No one can give you that. You have to know who you are – what others say is irrelevant.”
“We cannot think of being acceptable to others until we have first proven acceptable to ourselves.”― Malcolm X
Escape to Freedom
“Every woman that finally figured out her worth, has picked up her suitcases of pride and boarded a flight to freedom, which landed in the valley of change.”― Shannon L. Alder
We Need to Accept Change
“I will not be “famous,” “great.” I will go on adventuring, changing, opening my mind and my eyes, refusing to be stamped and stereotyped. The thing is to free one’s self: to let it find its dimensions, not be impeded.”― Virginia Woolf, A Writer’s Diary
Love Being Yourself
One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be, rather than being yourself.”
Use the “Put Downs” to Rise Up and Be Strengthened
“There will always be someone willing to hurt you, put you down, gossip about you, belittle your accomplishments and judge your soul. It is a fact that we all must face. However, if you realize that God is a best friend that stands beside you when others cast stones you will never be afraid, never feel worthless and never feel alone.” Shannon L. Alder
“Staying silent is like a slow growing cancer to the soul and a trait of a true coward. There is nothing intelligent about not standing up for yourself. You may not win every battle. However, everyone will at least know what you stood for—YOU.”― Shannon L. Alder
