Fred Barungi commented on Gay Star News scriptural quote from Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians. He’s educated, (an analysis) but solely has no idea about the historical background to explain why Paul was addressing comments like “deceitful lusts.” He feel to judge all homosexuals as operating from ‘deceitful lusts.” Firstly, let me say, Fred, that “he who is without sin, cast the first stone.” And secondly, pointing out others sins does not make you holy, but a person going agains the strict commandment of Jesus – “Do not Judge” and “Love your neighbour.” However, I am confused because at the end of Fred’s Quote – he actually sounds like he is following Jesus – ”
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
The Pharisee and Fred.
Pharisees were despised by Jesus because in his words, “they were like tombs that were all shiny on the outside and rotten within.” Pharisees loved to put down people and used Scriptures to do it. There are not many times that Jesus says “Woe to you – and when he does, it is to the judging and hateful Pharisee.
Fred may have good intentions. He may be on a Christian crusade to save souls, but he is on the path of hatred and this is an UNgod like path. Am I judging him? The saying “the way to hell is paved with good intentions” is a dangerous path when it destroys the mind and soul of other people, in this case people born gay. God will judge Fred. I am, like him, showing Scripture. My Scripture, my life is based on John 1: “God is Love.”
Fred is trying to be a good Christian, but you cannot hate your neighbour (gays and Lesbians) and proclaim that you are following the unconditional love and actions of Jesus. To quote Scripture – “You cannot serve two masters.” Fred by supporting Rebecca Kadaga , the Speaker who viciously enforces laws that put a homosexual in prison for 14 years is also not a follower of Jesus.
Fred needs to know that he either follows Jesus or Rebecca Kadaga. This Judge is trying to make life for the LGBT community in Uganda a living hell. So I wrote two comments on Gay Star News. The first is to explain Uganda and the Ugandan Martyrs and how they condition the minds of Roman Catholic and Protestant Ugandans. The second comment is addressed to Fred and his quote of Ephesians. If you follow Fred on Facebook, he goes against the teachings of Jesus. He is judging everyone!! I have also pointed out to him that if he thinks he is “loving the sinner but hating the sin” that this phrase was never used by Jesus. It is like saying to a person with a face blemish, “I hate the sin of the blemish but love you.!” What? What? Surely, there is no comparison between a skin blemish and a homosexual? Oh, Yes, there is. In Leviticus 21 – no person with a blemish or a dwarf or a crippled person can enter the sanctuary. But, what if they were born with a skin blemish, or born a cripple? Too bad. This is the same with a homosexual. According to the World Psychiatrical Association (representing 120 countries) homosexuality since it cannot be reversed is NOT a choice – as is having blemishes or being born a cripple.
FIRST OF MY COMMENTS REGARDING REBECCA (I Should not have called her a bitch, this was a typo – but it was meant to be witch – as witches put curses on innocent people).
Rebec-the-bitch (meant to say witch) needs to know that the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) that consists of 120 nations, issued a declaration in March, 2016. In that declaration, they stated what educated people know – that homosexuality cannot be reversed/changed – hence, it is NOT a choice. This declaration from the WPA was addressed to the United Nations and to world leaders. However, in my opinion, Rebecca the unjust Judge and Speaker of the House, cannot let her ego and malicious hatred accept the findings of WPA. People like her like to go back 3,500 years ago to Leviticus, when starting a fire was done by rubbing two flints/sticks together so that they could cook a meal and retire to bedouin tents or caves. Honestly, would Rebecca go to a medical doctor who practised medicine from 3,500 years ago?? How Rebecca can look at the scales of justice and know that gays/lesbians can and do face 14 years in prisonment is beyond human comprehension. She is Anglican and met the Pope when he visited Uganda. There is another problem with Christian Ugandans – and that is the “Ugandan Martyrs.” These are recognized by the Roman Catholic and Protestant churches.
I don’t know the date off hand, but in the 1800s the Christians came to push and shove their beliefs on the native Ugandans. The King was a gay man and like any king, he demanded sex from his subjects. Now, in the case of Christian Kings, they had mistresses and anyone who refused could and was put to death. That was the king’s right. Now with the Ugandan king, the fact that his required sex was gay became problematic for the Christians. They told the young pages in the court of the king that it was sinful and they would go to hell. Many of the pages refused and were killed. They were also killed not only for refusing sex to the monarch, but because they had insulted the king by refusing to accept HIS religion – they were traitors. However, the Roman Catholic Church and the Protestant Churches have made martyrs of them. The RC church has since made them saints. This complicates matters for the LGBT community because in schools and in churches and all around Uganda are statues and painting of these saints who refused gay sex! What is missing is a perpective gays against the background of Ugandan history. Ugandans need to see this problem and realize that they will never be “saints” if they refuse to give gays HUMAN RIGHTS.
As a Christian lesbian, I follow the words of Jesus (and Paul comes in second place). Jesus gave us the Parable/Story of the Good Samaritan. If you read it – you must ask the question, why did Jesus put the “most hated, the most sinful, most unclean” person (the Samaritan) as the hero over the priest and Levite that walked by the injured man. It is clear that they “knew” or thought they knew the Scriptures but for some reason, they “judged” the injured man unworthy of help. They had no love in their hearts. The story is a result of a lawyer asking Jesus how to get into the kingdom – and Jesus pointing out that the Samaritan was his neighbor (a shock to the lawyer). Fred, the gay person is YOUR neighbor and because he is gay, he should not be put in prison. (Please refer to a comment I made above about the World Psychiatric Association’s declaration in March 206 to world leaders).
Please note that Paul never met Jesus and therefore was not in his company for three years to see how he loved EVERYONE (Paul encountered Jesus in a vision on the Road to Damascus – and it is very fitting that Jesus said, “Saul, Saul (Paul’s Jewish name) why are you persecuting ME? referring to Christians.) So why are homosexuals being persecuted today?
If you look at the Gospel writers, Matthew writes to Jews about Christ and gives them them the facts that they still have a Jewish Old Testament background. Mark writes many accounts of Jesus’ sufferings and this was to Christians who werebeing persecuted particularly in Rome. Luke is a social gospel and gives dignity to women, outcasts, lepers, etc. John uses symbolism – Bread of Life; Lamb of God.
- The World Psychiatric Association (WPA) holds the view that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals are and should be regarded as valued members of society, who have exactly the same rights and responsibilities as all other citizens. This includes equal access to healthcare and the rights and responsibilities that go along with living in a civilised society.
- WPA recognises the universality of same-sex expression, across cultures. It holds the position that a same-sex sexual orientation per se does not imply objective psychological dysfunction or impairment in judgement, stability, or vocational capabilities.
- WPA considers same-sex attraction, orientation, and behaviour as normal variants of human sexuality. It recognises the multi-factorial causation of human sexuality, orientation, behaviour, and lifestyle. It acknowledges the lack of scientific efficacy of treatments that attempt to change sexual orientation and highlights the harm and adverse effects of such “therapies”.
- WPA acknowledges the social stigma and consequent discrimination of people with same-sex sexual orientation and transgender gender identity. It recognises that the difficulties they face are a significant cause of their distress and calls for the provision of adequate mental health support.
- WPA supports the need to de-criminalise same–sex sexual orientation and behaviour and transgender gender identity, and to recognise LGBT rights to include human, civil, and political rights. It also supports anti-bullying legislation; anti-discrimination student, employment, and housing laws; immigration equality; equal age of consent laws; and hate crime laws providing enhanced criminal penalties for prejudice-motivated violence against LGBT people.
6) WPA emphasises the need for research on and the development of evidence-based medical and social interventions that support the mental health of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals
Summing it up: for Fred.
What is so shocking is that an educated man like you – really doesn’t understand the Scriptures. If you did, you would not judge and you would know who your neighbour is. To state that you love the sinner but not the sin, is a rejection of a homosexual person who is true to his or her nature and it is like saying, “I hate your freckles” (sin) but love you. And, yes freckles is an abomination in Deuteronomy/Leviticus – God would now allow in his sanctury any human blemishes: no dwarfs, no blind people, no cripples, no skin blemishes….go read and find this out.
