I cannot image all the pain that comes from making the shift to being a transgendered person. Ebony Belcher is from Washington, D.C. She is a transgendered woman.
Washington DC is the capital city of the U.S.A, and you would think that since the Federal Government is in favour of equality for transgendered persons, most of its citizens would be aware of the issue – NOT SO.
Being Kicked Out of the Washroom
Ebony Belcher, was using the women’s bathroom at a Giant grocery store in Washington DC when a female security guard busted in.
‘She opened the door and came in and started calling me derogatory names,’ Belcher tells the NBC affiliate in Washington DC.
Belcher says before grabbing her and pushing her out of the store the guard said: ‘You guys cannot keep coming in here and using our women’s restroom. They did not pass the law yet.’
Belcher suffers from Parkinson’s disease and says she nearly fell during the confrontation.
Belcher called police and the guard, whose name has not been released, was arrested on a charge of simple assault.
The Giant chain issued a statement making clear that the guard does not work for the company but for a firm that provides their security services.
The incident took place as the use of bathrooms by transgender people is being hotly debated in the US and confrontations are being reported.
In Danbury, Connecticut, a 22-year-old woman says that she was accosted by another woman while she was washing her hands in a Walmart bathroom.
The stranger apparently thought Aimee Toms, 22, was transgender and using the women’s restroom. Aimee had cut her hair short because she had donated it to be made into wigs for cancer patients.
This madness has come from redneck southern USA states. Enough is enough. On a happier note, Canada has passed a bill giving transgendered persons full rights in all public places.
