Marilyn Agliotti (born 23 June 1979 in Boksburg, South Africa is an accomplished hockey player who lives in the Netherlands and holds a Dutch passport.
Representing the Netherlands
Having secured Dutch citizenship, Marilyn was selected for the 2007 European Championships in Manchester, U.K. The team won the silver media. The following year, the team took the bronze medal in Mönchengladbach.
Marilyn’s successful and skilled player qualified her for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. They were such a strong team that they won the gold medal. Not satisfied with one gold medal, Marilyn won a second at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Marilyn married another woman ,Veronica Lemm. In an interview with a Dutch magazine she said that the hockey community should be more open about homosexuality. Yet, the Netherlands was the first country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage in 2002.
