Mike Honda and his transgendered granddaughter, Malisa

The religious right-wingers believe that homosexuality is a choice. World Psychiatric Association consisting of 182 countries disagrees. The right-wingers also believe that transgender identify is also a choice. Again, they are wrong. Such ignorance and bigotry, done in the name of religious, is dangerous and hurtful. In both cases, there is often an enormous struggle to come to terms with the fact that an individual is “different” from his or her peers. Sometimes, the person gives up and commits suicide. Often, “Christians” will sever ties with their own child. They do NOT have the unconditional love of God, yet swear that they follow Jesus.

Here is an Example of Transgendered Early Knowing

The story comes from Democratic Congressman Mike Honda who has long b been an advocate for the LGBT community.

Sharing a photo of himself with his granddaughter Malisa, back in 2015, he tweeted: As the proud grandpa of a transgender grandchild, I hope she can feel safe at school without fear of being bullied.

He has now spoken in an interview to revisit his support for his granddaughters gender identity.

Honda said: When she was about 18 months, she declared to the family that Im a girl. And when she was just about three years old, she said, Im a girl. My name is Malisa, and this is how you spell it.

So, she exhibited a persistence, insistence and consistency that told us that this is something that we have to join her journey and make sure that her journey is safe and secure. And this is the kind of security and safety that I was thinking about when we talked about providing the children of Syria and orphans of Syria that kind of protection. Its no different.

Last year, (2015) after his tweet was shared thousands of times, he said: Malisa and I are blessed and humbled by your support. We want to say: thank you so much.

He told the LA Times: It makes me believe that we are closer than ever to a society where everyone is accepted for who they are.On behalf of my granddaughter and daughter, along with the rest of my family, let me say thank you to everyone who has replied, retweeted, or commented their support through social media.

We need to ensure that our LGBTQ youth are never bullied because of their real or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity. These children need our protection and our love.

Mr Honda previously sponsored a bill in 2009 that expanded hate crime protections to include actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability.

Malisa Phillips is only 9 years old, but she’s already an ambassador for transgender equality — and so are the members of her family, including her maternal grandfather, U.S. Rep. Mike Honda.

Malisa appeared at an event in San Jose, Calif., over the weekend as part of the launch of Transform California, a campaign to raise awareness, understanding and acceptance of transgender and gender-nonconforming Californians. It’s headed by the Transgender Law Center, Equality California, and a coalition of more than 30 other organizations.

Speaking to Cristina Rendon of Bay Area TV station KTVU, Malisa said her parents tell her “to follow my dreams and be who I am.” Asked how that makes her feel, she said, “It makes me feel great inside.”

While assigned male at birth, Malisa knew she was a girl when she was only 18 months old, said her mother, Michelle Honda-Phillips. “She wasn’t pretending, she wasn’t wanting to be, she was a girl,” Honda-Phillips said.
