This is a charming story about CHARM, a tiny 2 year old Chihuahua, who was rescued from a busy California freeway by a kind state trooper to lured her to safety with a protein bar. It was quite a nightmare for the small animal who escaped from her backyard last year on May 9, 2015. She dodged between car and then perched on top of a concrete divided shivering with fear and exhaustion.
Animal workers have been inundated with calls from people hoping to adopt the tan-and-white Chihuahua, whom shelter volunteers nicknamed “Freeway,” but the real owners showed up Friday to take their doggie home.
The girls, who’d been using social media to search for Charm, brought a poster-sized thank you card and hugged their pet tight as they greeted Tara.
Animal services informed the family and everyone on the media to license pets, microchip them, spay them and use good fencing. Also use the social media for lost animals.
